I am a camera-shy ex-electrical engineer from the Midwest. I had been overweight since 2008 and I've been on a journey to reclaim my fitness. I just got back to a healthy BMI this year (2019). I had a daughter in 2014 and that made me start caring about diet and the chemicals in all our products. Since she was born I have only gotten more extreme in this.
Because I believe there is enough evidence that a whole food, plant-based diet is a superior diet for health, I slowly became vegan by incorporating more plants and less animal products over time - starting with the slow elimination of dairy, not meat. I am by no means a perfect vegan, please don't hold me to it, but I do believe it is always better to skip the animal products and indulge in the vegetables, fruits, beans, grains, and spices. I also believe there is evidence that diets high in oil, salt, and sugar are bad, so I've been working to drastically reduce added sugar, oil, and salt from my cooking. This has been extremely hard. Please do your own research and consult a nutritionist, doctor, or other specialist to help you design and maintain a healthy diet.
I have a lot of interests that are likely reflected in the content of this site. I have been training myself to be more disciplined in diet, exercise, going to sleep, waking up, drinking responsibly, staying on top of chores, focusing, being present, being a better listener, minimizing my possessions, spending time outside, and getting out of my comfort zone.
I hope the content in the blog and on the products helps you to set goals, remember why, inspire and educate others, take responsibility, control your diet, reach new levels of fitness, and stay motivated.
Grab that life-bull by the horns and steer it in the right direction!
